Downloadable Products

How do I purchase an e-book or downloadable packet?
Downloadable products can be ordered online or on a school purchase order, but not on the phone or by mail. When ordering online, add them to your shopping cart, just as you would any other product. The difference is that after your order is completed, you will receive an e-mail with a link to the downloadable file. You may then save the file to your computer. (Note: Be sure you choose where you want the file saved on your computer and make a note of it. We won’t be able to tell you where your file is saved, as you have to choose that. Please make a note of its location.)
When ordering on a school purchase order, make sure your (the teacher’s) e-mail address is noted on the PO, so the download links can be sent directly to you. You will receive an e-mail with a link to the downloadable file. You may then save the file to your computer. (Note: Be sure you choose where you want the file saved on your computer and make a note of it. We won’t be able to tell you where your file is saved, as you have to choose that. Please make a note of its location.)
If you put both downloadable products and print products in your shopping cart or on your purchase order, the downloadable links will come to you in an e-mail, and the print products will be sent via UPS or USPS.

How long do I have to download the material?
The link to the material you ordered expires after 10 days, or until your download has been completed, whichever comes first.

May I put the downloaded file on a server or share it with other teachers?
A download is strictly for the purchaser’s own use in the classroom. To share a download with, for example, a whole department or a school server, a site license is required. For information about site licenses, go to http://www.cottonwoodpress.com/site-license/.

May I print out pages of my downloadable book or packet?
Yes, downloads are printable for use in your own classroom.

What software do I need to view downloadable material?
All downloads are pdfs, readable with Adobe Acrobat Reader. You probably already have Acrobat Reader installed on your computer, but if not, it’s easy to download it free at www.adobe.com/reader.

I downloaded an e-book, but now I can’t find it. What should I do?
Did you click SAVE when the download asked you what to do with the file?  If so, then the file was saved on your computer. Did you rename it, or leave it with our product name?  Our names are the title of the book with a pdf extension. You can try finding it with the “search” feature on your computer by searching for the file by title, or simply look for all files with a pdf extension. You can also look in your temporary files in your C drive to see if it went there. You might ask your school IT person for assistance if you downloaded at school.
If you did not click SAVE, it didn’t go anywhere.  Go back to the original e-mail and click on the link again and this time click SAVE and tell the computer where to save it.

What if I get a message that my file was damaged?
There may have been an interruption when your file was being downloaded, and that will cause the file to become corrupted. To download it again, first close out of your browser entirely.  Then reopen it and click on the link in the e-mail and try again. If it is still corrupted, send us an e-mail at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and we can help.

My e-book download period expired before I downloaded the file. What do I do?
A downloadable book or packet expires 10 days after purchase, or until it is downloaded, whichever come first. If your download has expired, you will need to purchase the material again. (If there are unusual or extenuating circumstances, e-mail us at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .)
