It's Not a Party. It's a Get-Together is a downloadable read-aloud play that deals with issues of integrity, peer pressure, the desire to be popular, and taking responsibility.
When Luke's parents leave town overnight, they expect him to stay at his friend Brian's house—but Luke and Brian have a different plan. Instead of staying at Brian's, they scheme to stay at Luke's parents' apartment—alone. Through a series of clever tactics like playing on his need for popularity, Luke's friends persuade him to hold a "small" get-together. Thirty students show up. Something spills. People scream. The neighbors come running. Luke is left to explain everything to his parents.
The dialogue is humorous but brings up serious issues. The play includes discussion and writing activities. 16 roles.
